107 Spitfire Royal Canadian Air Cadets was formed on March 2, 1942, making it one of the oldest Air Cadet Squadron’s in Canada. The Air Cadet program in Canada came into existence in 1941.
Within the last ten years the number of cadets at 107 Squadron has fluctuated between 200 and 40 cadets. in May of 2013 Captain Blaine Beaven took command of 107 Spitfire Squadron. Through the hard work of the squadron staff with the support of the Civilian Support Group the squadron is experiencing exponential growth.
Since its beginning in Saskatoon in 1942, 107 Spitfire Squadron has relied on community partners to help them produce the next generation of Canadian leaders, including current Snowbirds pilot Captain Regan Wickett, and the former Governor General of Canada Ray Hnatyshyn. As well Marion M. Graham, recipient of the Order of Canada, and whom a school in Saskatoon is named after, was a volunteer with 107 Spitfire Squadron.
